church camp 2007 - 7/6-8/2007
st nick's church camp was a rousing success. we had so many members and guests attend that we took every available bed and tent space in camp mokulei'a! we opened friday evening with check in and team assignments (we were organized into three teams for events and camp clean-up). the baby face contest began with people trying to identify just who each baby was. dinner, bingo, and roasting marshmallows around the campfire while singing worship songs rounded out the day.
saturday morning began with people spontaneously rising early to relax and watch the sunrise before breakfast. then we did a bible treasure hunt, where each team had to figure out clues to special items pastor hollis had hidden around the camp, and find all their items before the other teams did. the finaly clue identified the bible verse that team would present at worship service sunday morning.
after lunch, we had free time, with beach time, tee-shirt decorating and dyeing, an assortment of athletic events - climaxing with the annual water balloon fight - and the three teams preparing skits for sunday service. overhead, ultralights and paragliders flew. after dinner was the fiercely-contested bible jeopardy. by the end of the day, everyone was ready for bed!
people again rose early for a beautiful sunrise and breakfast. then we had worship service, and baptized a very peaceful baby on the beach. after the service, some people packed, some people cleaned up, and others who had packed earlier in the morning got in more time on the beach and the water.
camp 2008 is already scheduled - be there!
